Twenty-Seven

This weekend, I will turn twenty-seven.

I am entering my late twenties...

While I'm not usually one to freak out too much about getting older...the whole late twenties thing is just a bit much for me.

It's not so much the getting older part that bothers me...

When I was younger, my goal was to be married by 22, and have a baby by 26. I thought being married three years and then trying for a baby would be perfect.

Needless to say, things changed, and plans went out the window.

I met the love of my life at 20. And while I really did want to be married at 22...we just weren't at the right place financially for that to happen. And, I'm glad we waited until we were. It definitely saved us some heartache.

So, we got married at 23. And, our three year waiting plan to start trying for a baby turned into one year...that has now turned into almost three years of trying.

While I am in a much different place in my life than I was even six months ago, it still stings a little to know that I am entering my late twenties and don't have a baby.

Yet, in spite of the way I'm feeling about 27, there are many things to be thankful for.

(My nieces. They are getting so big...)

I am saved by grace.
My hubby and I both have great jobs that we love.
We live in a home that is the perfect size for a couple without kids.
We are able to be involved in a few different Bible studies without having to worry about baby sitters.
We have food in our fridge.
We have amazing friends and family that we love spending time with.
We have everything we need, not everything we want...and that's a good thing.

So while 27 is not what I expected it to be, it's not too bad either...

Come Near

It's a dark, rainy day.

And I love it.

We haven't had many this winter, so it's such a nice change.

Rain always makes me feel happy...as well as a bit thoughtful.

Thoughtful days are good for the soul...evaluating where I've been, where I am, and where I'd like to be is definitely needed every now and again.

Today, I've been thinking a lot about this verse:

In the midst of this thoughtfulness, I know this is the most important thing I can be doing in my life right now. Drawing closer and closer to the One who never leaves my side.

Such a comfort. And such a blessing.

Here Comes the Bride!

My bestie and her now hubby got married last night.

(First dance)

It was a beautiful night and I feel so blessed to have been a part of it.

(Our friends from Colorado came out for the wedding as a surprise to the bride. The groom had it all set up. We picked them up from the airport on Tuesday. The look on Meghan's face when she saw John was priceless. It was such a wonderful gift for her. Oh, and that's John singing in the background of their first dance pic)

(My hot hubby was also in the wedding. We got to walk together. It was quite fun)

It's amazing to see the way that God brings two people together.

(My glowing, beautiful bestie!)

(Me and the MOH!)

We also went dancing for her bachelorette party last weekend. Here are a few pics from that:

(photo taken by one of the other bridesmaids)

This wedding had me in happy tears for so many different reasons. To see their love for God, for each other, and the love that Jeremiah has for Meghan's kids...it was so beautiful. I was giddy all week waiting to see this day take place...and it was all I hoped it would be and more.

Jesus is truly amazing.

Secret Sister Blog Party Link Up!

Some of you may know that I hosted a little blog party last year called the Secret Sister Blog Party (to read more about it, click here).

There were a few ladies that decided to take part in the party.

If you were one of those ladies, I'd love for you to link up your post of your experience with the party, as well as what you received from your sister, and how she revealed herself to you!

What Really Matters

Family

Beautiful friendships (with people that are like your family in so many ways)

Sharing about Christ

Living life the way God calls us to

Being available for others

Caring for those in need

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
(1 Corinthians 13:1-3, NIV)

Let's show our love this week.
