Princess

There are many things I enjoy doing with my life.

One of those things is spending time with beautiful girls who need to be reminded they are beautiful.

My wonderful friend E.H. and I are hosting a Princess Day tomorrow with our college girls. We are going to spend our evening watching princess movies (think Enchanted, Princess Diaries, Ever After, Cinderella), giving each other make overs, doing our nails, eating yummy food, and talking about how we are daughters of the King.

I am very excited about it.

I hope to have some wonderful pics to post...if I remember to take them!

One of the verses we will be sharing with them is the following:

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. I can't wait to spend some time pampering these girls and helping them know how much their Daddy God loves them.

Inspiration Workshop - Pampering

I am linking up with Gussy and her Inspiration Workshop again this week.

This week's prompt was Pamper Yourself.

I did two things this week to "pamper" myself.

I actually put on makeup for the first time in quite awhile.



It felt good.


I also painted my toenails. The color was majorly chipping, so I was in desperate need of a pedicure. But, I just haven't made the time to go get one, so I decided to paint them myself.

(The brand name for this nail polish is Sinful. It's probably one of the longest lasting nail polishes I've ever used. I got it at Target)

(I always get the worst tan lines from my favorite flip flops. If you want to try some super comfortable flip flops, I would suggest you try on a pair of Tevas. Just know you will end up with these lovely tan lines)

They look much happier now, don't you think?

Sometimes a girl just needs a little happy pampering in her life.

4th of July...or should I say 3rd?

So, the city we live in does their fireworks show on the 3rd of July every year.

Their reasoning?

That way, they don't have to pay the city workers holiday pay to be out there.

Yet...

They had the parade this morning...so they still had to pay people holiday pay.

Doesn't make sense to me at all...

Anyway, we went and watched the fireworks last night. We have a special spot that we've sat the past three years where we have an amazing view of the fireworks. We always try to get a group of people to come with us, so they can enjoy our special spot, too. We had a lot of fun with our friends this year watching the fireworks. Unfortunately, I didn't think to pull out my camera until the fireworks actually started...so there are no pics of us.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

I love long weekends.

We went to a minor league baseball game with my sister and her hubby on Saturday. It was a double hitter, and the team we were rooting for won both games! It was quite warm for the first game (102 degrees, to be exact)...and we were in the sun the whole game...but the sun went down in the beginning of the second game, which was much more pleasant.

It was a wonderful way to spend an evening!

Give and Take

One of my most favorite worship songs is Blessed Be Your Name.

I fell in love with this song the very first time I heard it. I love that it declares that, in spite of what's going on in our lives, we are to bless the name of our God. I love the line, You give and take away. Time and time again, that line rings true in my life.

We are attending a funeral tomorrow for my brother-in-law's grandma. Her death came very suddenly...yet it was a blessing that she didn't have to suffer.

But, then there's the flip side of that...

I am going to be an auntie twice this year! Two of my sisters-in-law are pregnant...and both of them are having girls! I am SO excited for all of this girly goodness coming into our family...especially because my husband only has brothers...so more girls are needed for sure!

In the midst of all this, I've been reflecting on this powerful truth all week. It's made me feel the need to share my feelings immediately with people...instead of waiting for the "perfect" moment. It's made me want to seize the opportunities I have in front of me...instead of waiting to see if I change my mind on them. It's made me long for more opportunities to share my heart with others...instead of hiding from the chance to do so.

My heart is choosing to bless His name today. And, it's a wonderful way to spend a day.
